Weather or Not is a simple game designed to introduce the basics of forecast-based humanitarian decisions. It highlights the probability inherent in weather forecasts, and models some of the real-life rewards and punishments Red Cross staff face in taking (or not taking) action.

The game is played in auditoriums, classrooms, and other spaces where a projector can be used to show the forecasts to participants. Alternatively, a simple deck of cards can be used if projection is not available (for more information on the card variation, see the game “Weather or Not: Low-Tech Edition”

Weather or Not has been played by audiences at conferences and events related to climate change and disaster preparedness as well as by villagers and stakeholders at sites where disaster often hits. For a full list of countries and sites where this game has been played as well as case studies of the game in action see the “About” section.
